FDA Will Soon Resume Produce Safety Inspections

Produce Safety Inspections Resume in 2022

Nationwide Produce Safety Rule inspections began in 2019 but were paused due to COVID-19 for the previous two years. In 2022, Oregon Farms subject to the Produce Safety Rule may be contacted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a routine inspection.

Visit ODA’s Produce Safety Rule Decision Tree to get a provisional assessment of your farm’s coverage and your timeline for routine produce inspections under the rule.

Help Prepare for Your Farm’s Inspection

On-Farm Readiness Reviews (OFRRs) are free, confidential and voluntary. These educational visits help farmers identify an operation’s strengths and weaknesses relative to the FSMA Produce Safety Rule.

Reviewers are ODA and OSU staff who are well-versed in the Produce Safety Rule and will only cover the portions of the rule that apply to your operation.

Email the produce safety team or call 503-986-4620 for more information.

You may also submit an OFRR request form using the OFRR intake form.
