The USDA Rural Development and Oregon Department of Agriculture will hold an informational webinar on April 9, 2021 to provide information on the Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) Program. The Rural Business-Cooperative Service (Agency) published a notice in the Federal Register on December 21, 2020 inviting applications for VAPG.
The Value-Added Producer Grant Program helps agricultural producers enter into value-added activities related to the processing and marketing of new products. The goals of this program are to generate new products, create and expand marketing opportunities and increase producer income. Independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer- or rancher-cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures, as defined in the program regulation, are eligible to apply. Oregon was awarded more than $3.2 million in funding for 15 projects in 2020.
$76 million is available for the 2021 VAPG funding cycle. The Agency is extending the application deadline to 11:59PM April 29, 2021 for electronic submissions via Grants.gov. Paper applications must be postmarked by May 4, 2021.
For more information, Spanish language materials, and eligibility requirements please visit the Value-Added Producer Grant wepbage on the USDA Rural Development website.
